How much is a breast lift worth? Probably a lot more than it costs? We all spend multiples of the cost of surgery to buy a car which is then worthless in three years. Your breast lift may last you for a life-time. Cars you can shop for based on price, but not surgery. A ‘breast-lift’ is not a conveyor belt product. And if you buy a ‘lemon’, you can return it. If you have surgery and it is done badly it may not be fixable, not to mention the heartache and costs of revision surgery. I am often amazed at how inexpensive surgery can be compared to the price of a car or a vacation.
The surgeon’s fee is usually about $8000 – $12,000. Hospital fees vary enormously and can start at $3000 and go up from there. The expertise, judgment and experience of a surgeon are priceless. Many surgeons have specific experience in breast-lifting surgery. Ensure that your surgeon is Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS) and is an Active Member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). You cannot be a member of ASAPS without being ABPS certified. Web sites can be confusing and deceptive as to a surgeon’s real Board Certification. The term ‘Plastic Surgeon’ is used loosely by many surgeons who have not been certified by the ABPS and have not completed an accredited residency in Plastic Surgery. This training is rigorous and cannot be learned over a weekend. Check his or her web site and before and after gallery and look at the surgeon’s publications on breast-lifting surgery.
